SUMMARY:May 2026 TBRI Overview Training
DESCRIPTION:With the support of State VALE funds CASA of Larimer will be offering the TBRI®️ Caregiver Package to Staff and Volunteers of local CASA programs across Colorado.  TBRI® is an attachment-based\, trauma-informed intervention that is designed to meet the complex needs of vulnerable children. TBRI® uses Empowering Principles to address physical needs\, Connecting Principles for attachment needs\, and Correcting Principles to disarm fear-based behaviors. The intervention is based on years of attachment\, sensory processing\, and neuroscience research. It is primarily delivered as the TBRI®️ Caregiver Package which is 24 hours of training in four parts (Overview\, Connecting\, Empowering\, Correcting). CASA of Larimer County will be offering each part regularly over the next year. \nThe 6-hour TBRI®️ Overview is required before taking the following principles. It provides the basis of attachment and research on which TBRI®️ builds. The overview is six hours divided into four virtual sessions over two weeks. Participants must attend the full six hours consecutively. He served as the Permanency Admin at Arapahoe County DHS as well as Program Director for the University of Colorado Health and Sciences adolescent residential treatment facility with A.R.T.S. and Jon Steinmetz\, Youth Services Specialist – Jon has served as the Division of Child Welfare Family First Project Manager for the Colorado Department of Human Services as Colorado continued to implement the Family First Prevention Services Act. \nRSVP HERE

DESCRIPTION:The CASA Book Club will be meeting on Thursday\, May 21\, at 6 pm at the Jeffco Courthouse. We will convene in one of the meeting rooms to the left of the elevator. Look for the signs. \nWe will read and discuss the book\, The Body Keeps the Score\, by Bessel Van Der Kolk. The book combines neuroscience and clinical experience to explain how trauma physically reshapes the brain and body\, leading to issues like anxiety\, depression\, and disconnection. The book not only makes inferences on causes but also explores body-based treatments\, offering hope for recovery. \n \nThere is a pdf version of the book online here. \nThe book is available on Amazon for $14. The Prospector Library System has the book\, but you will need to be added to the wait list for the hard copy or audio. \nRead the book and come prepared to discuss how the book impacts your current or past cases and how we might apply concepts to our mission. The book club qualifies for continuing education credit. \nNote that our CASA Book Club meets regularly every other month on the 3rd Thursday and alternates between books and movies related to foster care\, adoption\, and fulfilling the mission of the best interests of children.
