CASA Book Club – March 2026
he CASA Book Club will be meeting on Thursday, March 19, at 6 pm at the Jeffco Courthouse. We will convene in a meeting room on the first floor. Go left at the elevators.
The movie we will watch and discuss is The Blind Side (2009). This film is a story of Michael Oher, a homeless teen taken in and adopted (?) by a family. Michael eventually becomes an NFL football player.
The movie was chosen in part for issues related to older youth, the lifelong impact of care/adoption of older youth, and legal aspects of adoption/care. The book will provide some links to a new CASA role, Youth in Transition (YIT). Additional insight into this new role will be discussed.
The actor who played Michael, Quinton Aaron is currently battling health issues.

Watch the movie and come prepared to discuss how the movie impacts your current or past cases and how we might apply concepts to our mission. Watching and coming to the meeting earns training credit. Continuing education credit changes for our Book Club are also on the agenda.
Note that our CASA Book Club meets regularly every other month on the 3rd Thursday and alternates between books and movies related to foster care, adoption and fulfilling the mission of the best interests of children.
