AVi at Olde Towne

CASA of Jefferson and Gilpin Counties (CASA) has been serving the needs of abused and neglected children in these counties for over 20 years by recruiting, training and supervising volunteers to act as advocates for child abuse victims who are in protective custody. CASA volunteers have bridged the gap between the limits of court and human services and the youth they serve for over 5,000 children who have been victims of abuse and neglect.

Through the years, CASA has become overwhelmingly aware of the challenges these youth face once they age out of the foster care system.

Of females who age out of foster care are pregnant before the age of 21.

CASA’s Youth Alliance at Avi aims to provide housing and other support for youth emancipating from foster care to help ease the transition to a healthy and self-sufficient adulthood.

We believe that 1:1 relationships matter most in achieving positive outcomes for youth who have experienced trauma.

CASA’s Youth Alliance Initiative program connects its participants with a caring coach who meets them ‘where they are’ on the path to independence. In partnership with Foothills Regional Housing, the program also provides these youth with a rent-subsidized apartment at the brand new AVi complex. Once the burden of affordable housing is solved, their coach is able to help them build the necessary skills to live a healthy, self-sufficient adulthood.

Over a three year period, the coaches work with the youth to build skills in six key areas:
  • Housing
  • Financial Literacy
  • Job Training/Education
  • Employment
  • Health & Well-Being
  • Social Connectedness
