CASA Book Club – January 2026

The CASA Book Club will be meeting on Thursday, January 15 at 6 pm at the Jeffco Courthouse. We will convene in one of the meeting rooms to the left of the elevator. Watch for signs.

The book we will read and discuss the book, Wards of the State (2025), by Claudia Rowe. The book is the exploration of the broken American foster care system as told through the stories of six former foster youth. In Wards of the State, the author’s storytelling is vivid and insightful, offering the reader a unique insight into the foster care system.

The book is highly available for free on Prospector through the Colorado Public Library system.

Read the book and come prepared to discuss how the book impacts your current or past cases and how we might apply concepts to our mission. Reading the book and coming to the meeting earns 3 hours of training credit.

Note that our CASA Book Club meets regularly every other month on the 3rd Thursday and alternates between books and movies related to foster care, adoption and fulfilling the mission of the best interests of children.
